Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Will Receive A Unique Gas Distribution

  • Suzuki V-Strom 1000 will receive a unique gas distribution
Suzuki patented variable valve timing system. The innovation will be applied to the DL 1000 V-Strom touring enduro engine. Let us remind you that earlier a similar development has already been put into practice by Italian competitors on the Ducati Multistrada motorcycle.

Japanese engineers at Suzuki Corporation have been working on technology to change the filling of combustion chambers for more than ten years. In 2004, the development of the so-called three-dimensional wavy camshaft cam was presented.

This know-how allows you to vary not only the degree of valve opening, but also the angle of rotation of the crankshaft at which it occurs. In a 2021 patent, a valve was added to the complex camshafts to regulate the oil pressure in the cylinder head. There is almost no doubt that the new system, which received the abbreviation VVT, will be used on the V-Strom 1000 - the engine mentioned in the patent actually completely coincides with the power plant of the Suzuki DL1000.

The VVT system should increase engine elasticity by providing good traction at low revs and increase maximum power at high ..

. Fuel consumption will also decrease - by about 20%. Information on when exactly the production of motorcycles with the VVT system will begin has not yet been published.
