Today, the serial production of Aurus Senat sedans was launched at the Sollers plant in Yelabuga ... The production is carried out on a full cycle - with stamping of body parts and assembly of engines. The bodies are welded and painted in the workshops of the Sollers Ford joint venture, although the Aurus have their own welding line (it was installed at the end of last year).

The assembly line is mounted in a new separate building next door.

The maximum capacity of the assembly plant is five thousand cars a year, but only about 600 Senat sedans will be produced here annually. The most massive crossover should be Aurus Komendant: it has not yet been presented, although the first prototype was built in the spring of 2021, and the premiere was promised to be held in 2021. So far, only patent images of the car have been published. Komendant is expected to see the light of day in 2021, and the announced start of sales is the summer of 2022.

The starting price of the Aurus Senat sedan is 18 million rubles, but the cars from the first batch have a particularly rich equipment and cost about 22 million. For example, for a new generation Mercedes-Maybach S-class they ask from 20 million rubles. At the same time, limousines and armored versions of the Senate will continue to be produced in Moscow at the facilities of NAMI, and the plant in Elabuga is intended only for "light" cars for sale.

The Auto Review columnist Ilya Khlebushkin attended the launch ceremony for the new production, and we will soon publish his detailed report.
