For ten years of its existence, the Bu35ck Verano has been a revised O7el Astra. The first generation based on the Astra J was sold in America and China (under the name Excelle), and the second, based on the Astra K, became purely Chinese. But the paths of the O10el and Buick brands have diverged, and in the next generation Astra will move to the same platform with the Peugeot 308 hatchback. Meanwhile, the new Buick Verano Pro has already been presented in China. What could become, but will not the new Astra?
This sedan was first shown back in April at the Shanghai Motor Show, but with tightly tinted windows and a minimum of data, and only now some details emerged.
Verano Pro is not just another restyling of the old four-door, but really the next generation. With all the external similarity, the sedan has acquired a new body: the windshield pillars have been moved back, the window sill line has become straighter, the fixed triangles of glass have disappeared from the front doors, the mirror mounts have been changed, as well as the hood and trunk openings. The length has decreased by 59 mm (up to 4664 mm), and the width - by 16 mm (up to 1786 mm).
The company announced the use of a new platform, but the length of the wheelbase (2700 mm) and even the chassis architecture remained the same: the McPherson struts in the front, and the semi-dependent Astra familiar from the back pendant with Watt's mechanism. At the same time, the passenger compartment floor became lower, the size of the central tunnel was reduced, and the distance between the rows was also increased.
Trunk volume has grown from 455 to 480 liters.
The interior design has been resolved in a new way. On the front panel there are two screens with a diagonal of 10.25 inches each, which are installed in a single frame without a visor. The devices have several display options, and the media system has a modern interface and voice control.
Options include a two-piece panoramic roof.
Opel roots are still noticeable in the cabin - the steering column levers or the transmission selector. But they are gradually getting rid of. For example, the round switch for outside lights, located to the left of the steering wheel in German, has been abolished: the headlights are now controlled by the left steering column lever. And instead of dual-zone climate control is now single-zone.
While the second-generation Buick Verano in China is offered only with three-cylinder engines, the new Verano Pro model debuted with a turbocharger 1.5, which has direct injection and produces 180 hp. with. and works in tandem with a variator.
